We stopped in for a quick lunch and it was great. The staff is helpful and friendly, our food came quickly, and the prices are reasonable. We had the meatloaf sandwich with bacon & BBQ sauce. It was awesome and comes highly recommended!

There are quite a few places to get good sandwiches in this town and this cafe hidden in the little corner of a small parking lot is one of my favorites when coming up to Manchester. Granted, I can't EVER remember the name, because Gourmet Deli is the least creative name ever and no one ever knows which place we're talking about but when we say, the place past the bookstore, behind Thai Basil in the corner, we seem to remember. The cafe itself is really small, but has a homey feel like you are in someone's kitchen. You can see the people making your food behind the counter. There is never more than one waitress and for the most part there doesn't need to be, because it's not usually crowded. But on a day winter day with bad conditions, this place will be crowded. The soups are always a hit, the chili being a favorite at our table. I always opt for the make your own sandwich on a croissant, mostly because you can't usually do that! The cafe makes a lot of their spreads and dressings homemade and the maple honey mustard is awesome. The service is on "Vermont speed", but it's nothing to criticize. When one waitress is doing everything, you must respect that. This place is consistent whenever I come and it's always just what I'm looking for. It's a great lunch spot for a half day ski day on the slopes!

Very tasty breakfast! All fresh and local ingredients. Has the feel of a local diner. Friendly server (Emily). Really good food at very reasonable prices. The breakfast sandwiches were the big winners, as was the homemade corned beef hash.

Best breakfast in Manchester! The service is awesome and they are dog friendly (on the patio). My wife loves the oatmeal pancakes which are off menu but delicious. They're hash is also very, very good.

Not a fan. We all tried the thanksgiving sandwich. Soggy bread from the cranberry. Could overlook if it was real fresh turkey breast. Place could use some refreshing. The plastic glasses have seen better days. Have that dirty look. Service sucked. Waitress was not attentive. To busy talking with other employees because there certainly weren't many customers. They turned off air conditioner because someone complained of the noise so we suffocated. There are much better places in Manchester...wish we had found one.

Excellent breakfast. Very friendly owner. Casual atmosphere. The cinnamon raisin French toast was great -not to be missed.

Arrived for breakfast. Were told that the wait would be 10 minutes for a table. 25 minutes later, we were seated. 20 minutes later our order was taken. An hour later, our food arrived. No apologies by the waitress. Even simple requests for coffee and juice took 20 minutes to be heeded. Stay away from this poorly run establishement

walked in and walked out. Kitchen and place in general looked dirty and in need of a massive renovation.

Service was extremely slow and inattentive. Paid $3 for a small glass of tea and couldn't get a refill. Sandwich was soggy. Chips and pickle were decent but I'm sure they came out of a bag and jar.

This is a really lovely place and we had an amazing breakfast! Sitting outside in this nice weather is so enjoyable. The service was great and people were nice. Maple sausages and maple syrup pancakes were truly amazing! Make sure to ask for orange marmalade for your toast! Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a cute breakfast!

One of my favorite Manchester lunch spots, the thanksgiving sandwich is amazing. I like ordering a side salad instead of chips, all of their dressings are homemade and the creamy garlic is especially tasty. Lovely place to sit outside.

Small little joint, located towards the back of a parking lot off of Main Street. Easy to pass by it, but glad we stopped by to pick up lunch. It was a little pricier than I would've liked to have spent for lunch, but still worth the visit, especially if you love a variation on the classic Grilled Cheese! The kids grilled cheese and grilled chicken were both served with kettle chips at about $5 each. The grilled chicken was unfortunately a little dry by the time it was time to eat. The grilled cheese, on the other hand, was perfect! The farmer's garden salad with grilled chicken was about $10. It was very tasty with their very own maple dijon! The reuben was a bit too salty, so I would not recommend that. The highlight was the Gourmet Grilled Cheese, which was an adult version of grilled cheese. Perfectly buttered and toasted artisan bread with pesto, cheese, avocado, tomato, and bacon. It was a bit messy to eat, but great complementary flavors. The saltiness of the bacon and pesto worked precisely in conjunction with the ooey-gooey mild cheese and avocado. This was also served with kettle chips, and was about $11.

It's small and lacks a particular aesthetic sense, but the food is tasty, the service is fair to good, and it's pricing is on par for Manchester. We had breakfast, which is hard to do poorly but also hard to do spectacularly, and it was pleasantly surprising in terms of taste. Fair trade organic coffee, local maple syrup and maple sausage links (would recommend those) were well appreciated elements of our breakfast.

Went there on a slow Sunday midday. Left after waiting for five minutes to be seated. There were open tables, the waitress was not particularly busy but managed to slowly serve tea, clean a table and disappear into the kitchen, all the while saying I will be with you in a moment.

Went here for breakfast on Sunday. They were busy but seated quickly, but then we had to wait for menus about 5 min, then 15 min later to place our drink order and since we had some time to look over the menu we placed our food order. Was about to leave when our drinks came 10 min later, and then again about to leave when our food finally arrived. The waitress never came by asking for refills. The people next to us saw 2 other people served before them, even though they placed their orders first. It was 1hr and 1/2 breakfast, which should have been done in 30 min at most. The food itself was bland. Two of us got the breakfast sandwiches, which included a microscopic amount of home fries/potatoes and nothing special about these sandwiches to make them "Gourmet". And one of us ordered the breakfast scramble special. Nothing was special about this item, bland again. McD's would have been a better choice. At least we would have been out in 10 min. It seemed that if you were a local you may have gotten better/quicker service... Stay away!!!

Location was difficult to find, but we found it after driving by once. It was set back from the road in a small gathering of other shops. We arrived for lunch and were seated promptly. The chili was a great starter, and was very substantial, not watery like some places. Lots of meat, beans, tomatoes and I chose sharp cheddar cheese to top mine. Very good! The meatloaf sandwich sounded promising on the menu, with bacon, cheddar, and BBQ sauce, but the BBQ sauce was lathered on so thick that I couldn't taste much else. The sauce was overly sweet and not what i was hoping for. The meatloaf itself tasted rather bland when I wiped off the sauce. Disappointing, but I would go back for the chili.

The Gourmet Deli is easy to miss when you're walking around Manchester Center. It's set back from the road in a complex with a bunch of other businesses and has only a tiny sign on the roadway to let you know it's there. My friend saw the sign and thought it seemed like as good as any place to grab lunch. It wasn't - it was way better than that. I had a cup of chili and a Thanksgiving sandwich. The chili had a great spice (just the right level of heat for a lazy lunchtime chili) and was topped (not smothered) with a really tasty cheddar. The Thanksgiving sandwich had turkey, homemade stuffing and cranberry sauce - and was grilled. Delicious! My friend ordered a grilled cheese that had pesto and tomato and onion and also looked amazing - though I was too full to take a bite. If I ever find myself in Manchester Center anytime soon, you can bet I'll be visiting the gourmet deli again. That chili was almost good enough to be the impetus for a trip!

I originally intended to go to Up for Breakfast and there was a line with a 10 minute wait, so we went downstairs to sit outside then I walked a few feet around the corner and saw the Gourmet Deli behind it with outdoor seating so told my bf to come see it and we decided to go there instead. We were glad we did, it was very good. We sat on the outside patio and had breakfast. I went with the blueberry buttermilk pancakes and he had a sausage egg and cheese. The order arrived promptly, my pancakes were unbelievable. They had the maple syrup butter all over them. They were loaded with blueberries. The breakfast potatoes on the side of my bf's dish were excellent. Spicy and crisp Our server was very friendly. Prices were very reasonable. Both our meals were $5.95 each. The place/main sign is set back from the street with the parking lot in front of it so its hard to notice it. There was a large board of lunch specials too. There are lots of outdoor tables but I peeped inside and it had the country cafe vibe going. On the sign I noticed they do catering and call themselves a "Green Cafe" If your in the area and looking for a good breakfast go check it out.

This is a don't leave Manchester without going to The Gourmet Deli. It is a little out of the way located just around the corner from "Up For Breakfast". This is a good place for vegetarians & special dietary needs as they prepare all meals to order and everything, we were told, is in house made ex. dressings, spreads, soups, etc. While we were there we inquired about private dinners/luncheons and or catering. They do it all! Best known for it's lunch but we tried breakfast and it was PHENOMENAL! With the outside dining we were informed our dog was welcome too! So we got him out of the car and when we returned a cold bow, of water was brought for him. The service was great and we could see our order being prepared. I hihgly recommend The Gourmet Deli.

The best kept secret in Manchester, VT! Their Blueberry pancakes are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Best ever - anywhere on the planet. You cant go worn with the Turkey Club or Gourmet Gilled Cheese. The chili is the best around and so is the split pea with ham soup when they have it. You wont be disappointed.

I don't usually do yelp reviews but I think it's a shame folks are missing out on this little tucked-away gem. My husband's buttermilk strawberry blueberry pancakes with maple syrup were to die for! I actually heard an unsolicited "yum...yum!" from a guy whose usual highest praise is "it's ok." They even managed to turn ordinary oatmeal into a work of art ( and taste) with a thick ring of blueberries and strawberry chunks on the outside and a pile of brown sugar with walnuts surrounding it in the center. (The walnuts plus plain yogurt were a graciously accommodated special request.) Service was prompt and cheerful. I overheard a couple telling the cook as they were leaving "we drive hundreds of miles for your pancakes!" If you want a delicious and quick breakfast I highly recommend the Gourmet Deli! Wonder if Manchester would allow an attractive sidewalk chalkboard out on the main drag announcing the day's specials?

Hi everyone, I was there with some friends on Sun 10/10/10. We only went here because Up for Breakfast had just closed their kitchen for lunch and this place was in the parking lot behind Up for Breakfast. Deli Cafe's menu is pretty simple - it's either a salad or a sandwich. The sandwiches are pretty pricey given the size of the portions. I ordered the the Thanksgiving Sandwich (Turkey/Cranberry Sauce/Stuffing $10). The sandwich was very good, but also very small. I couldn't order a draft beer because they ran out. So I ordered a soda which was flat, but the waitress brought me another one. The consensus from my friends was that the service from the restuarant is so-so, the sandwiches were ok, it sucks that there was no draft beer, and that people were still hungry afterward especially when most sandwiches costs $9-14 plus tax & tip.
